A Pediatric Pulmonologist is a pediatrician who has received an additional 3 years of training in lung conditions in children. The scope of our practice involves the care of children with conditions like:

  • Asthma

  • Bronchiolitis

  • Chronic bronchitis

  • Bronchiectasis

  • Chronic lung disease of prematurity

  • Cystic Fibrosis

  • Congenital abnormalities of the chest, airways and lungs

  • Ventilator dependent children

  • Sleep disorders

 LUIS A. FAVERIO, MD, FAAP: Dr. Faverio was born in Lima, Peru. He grew up in Lima and attended Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia Medical School. He moved to the United States in 1988 and completed his pediatric residency at State University of New York-Brooklyn where he stayed one additional year as a Chief Resident. He then moved to Washington, DC to pursue a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at The Children’s National Medical Center, there, he found his passion for cystic fibrosis care and met many amazing and courageous children with this condition.

After working two years in Michigan, he took his wife’s advice to move to a warmer weather and they came to Florida in 1997.

Doctor Faverio is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. He has a love for his family, cars and enjoys action movies. He is involved in the medical community and his dream is to have a Cystic Fibrosis Center in collaboration with the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.
